BAU BAT battery backup – operation in a power outage

Normally, the strip runs on mains power and the battery charges. When the power fails, however, the battery keeps the lighting on.

On battery power, light output drops by 70 %. Even so, there is enough light for safe movement.

The maximum battery output is always 50 W. As a result, a short strip shines brighter on battery and a long strip dimmer.

The strip stays lit for 60 minutes on battery, and then the lights switch off automatically. When the power returns, the battery starts charging.

If another outage follows right after, the battery still has power for a second 60-minute period.

BAU BAT battery backup – installation

Connect the unit between the power supply and the connection cable of the LED strip, following the connection diagram. It already has a socket and a plug.

One battery takes max. 60 metres of LED strip. For longer corridors, therefore, use several units.

Do not open the BAU BAT box. Opening it voids the warranty.

Indicator light and charge check

A green light means the battery is charging and the charge is over 90 %. A red light, in contrast, means the charge is below 90 %.

Press the ON/OFF button, and the number of flashes shows the charge: 1 flash 0–20 %, 2 flashes 20–40 %, 3 flashes 40–60 %, 4 flashes 60–80 % and 5 flashes over 80 %.

To stop battery operation, press ON/OFF for 3 seconds. The charging time is 24 hours.

The unit connects to BAU LED 2 strips, for example the green 25 m BAU LED 2 strip. In addition, the strip needs a separate connection cable from the LED strips group.

Electrical safety

Battery-backed lighting helps people leave safely when the lights would otherwise go out. Therefore, test the BAU BAT battery backup by cutting the supply before commissioning.
