How the transformer works on site

The transformer feeds the lights with 48-volt safety extra-low voltage. The lights split into two circuits, so a fault or overload in one circuit does not switch off all the lighting.

Each circuit has its own quick fuse and switch. For example, you can switch off one area for a work phase while the other stays lit.

The indicator lights show at a glance whether power reaches the transformer and both circuits. As a result, fault finding is faster, because you know the direction before anyone climbs a ladder.

With the main switch, you switch off all the lighting from one place, for example at the end of the working day.

Sizing the lighting

Start by counting how many lights the area needs. One transformer takes max. 50 lights, split into two circuits.

Divide the circuits by area: for example, one circuit for the stairwell and the other for the floor level. The switches and indicator lights then point straight to the right area.

On a larger site, use several transformers, for example one per floor. In addition, leave spare capacity in each circuit, because lights are often added as work progresses.

You hang the lightweight transformer on the wall from its suspension loops. That way, it stays off the floor, out of the dust and away from traffic.

The lighting lines connect to spring connectors, which speeds up installation. You make the strain relief on the transformer bar, so the joints take no load when the cable moves.

Divide the lights evenly between the circuits and stay within 50 lights in total. An even split also makes later fault finding easier.

The lighting moves from site to site as one package. The light cage holds 150 MBerg 48V lights with transformers and accessories, so the transformer travels in the same lockable cage as the lights.

Check the transformer before the next installation: the housing, the spring connectors and the indicator lights. Repair or replace a damaged unit before use.

Safety extra-low voltage (48 V) reduces the risk of electric shock in wet and cramped worksite conditions. In addition, quick fuses protect each circuit separately.
