Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit
SKU:505010042Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit
Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit is a Finnish-made worksite lighting board whose socket outlets all switch on and off remotely through the Spine system. The lights burn only when they are needed, and nobody has to drive to site to switch them.
- Every outlet remotely controlled: 3 x 16 A three-phase sockets and 6 x 16 A / 230 V Schuko sockets
- Control by weekly automations or live from the Spine service
- Local control with the SOCKETS ON / SOCKETS OFF buttons
- Supply through a 16 A appliance inlet
- 40 A / 30 mA residual current device and 6 x C16 1P miniature circuit breakers
- Schuko sockets split across phases 1-1-2-2-3-3 to avoid unbalanced load
- Weight 9.3 kg, dimensions 40 x 22 x 52 cm, steel tube frame
Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit is a board built for controlling worksite lighting, and every one of its socket outlets can be switched remotely. The supply comes in through a 16 A appliance inlet, and the board distributes it to three three-phase sockets and six Schuko sockets. Lighting is controlled from the Spine service either on a weekly schedule or live. The unit weighs 9.3 kilos, so one person can move it from site to site.
Who is the Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit for?
The board is designed for construction sites, renovation projects, industrial halls and event use.
It suits sites where lighting stays on for long stretches and switching it off is easily forgotten. The larger the site and the more luminaires it has, the more automatic control is worth.
It also suits rental fleets. The same unit serves one site after another, and the control settings are changed to match the new schedule without any installation work.
Two ways to control the lighting remotely
Weekly automations. Give the lighting a weekly rhythm and the outlets switch on and off to match it. The lights burn during shifts, not at night and not at weekends.
Live control. You can switch outlets on and off in real time from the Spine service wherever you are. That is useful when work continues unexpectedly, or when the lights have been left on.
The board can also be operated locally with its own SOCKETS ON / SOCKETS OFF buttons.

Why controlling the lighting saves electricity
Worksite lighting is often on around the clock, because switching it off is forgotten or the switch is an awkward walk away.
When the lights burn only during working hours, the pointless hours disappear. An eight-hour shift, for instance, means the lighting can be off for two thirds of the day.
The saving comes without compromising site safety: the lights are on whenever people are moving about, and they can be switched back on remotely in seconds. Read more about how a lighting control system works in general.
Even phase distribution reduces unbalanced load
The six Schuko sockets are split across the phases in the order 1-1-2-2-3-3. The load is therefore shared evenly between the three phases.
Even distribution reduces unbalanced load and the needless fuse trips it causes. The same principle is used in our boards with phase metering.
Unbalanced load arises when one phase carries clearly more than the other two. A fuse can then trip even though the total load on the board is well within limits.

How to put the Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit into service
Connect the supply to the 16 A appliance inlet and plug the luminaires into the outlets. The board is joined to the Spine system, after which its outlets appear in the service.
Set the weekly automation to match the working hours on site. The control can be changed at any time without visiting the location.
The board hangs from its steel tube frame or stands on a surface. The frame protects the switches and sockets from knocks while it is being moved.

How it differs from an ordinary lighting control board
An ordinary board is controlled by a time switch or by hand on site. Changing the settings always means a trip to the site.
In this model the control happens remotely, and the state of the outlets is visible in the Spine service. A site manager can see from the office whether the site lights are on. If you do not need remote control, look at the TSR-LCU3 16A model. The rest of our site lighting equipment is in the worksite lighting range.
Frequently asked questions
Can every outlet be controlled remotely?
Yes. All socket outlets on the board are remotely controlled – both the 3 x 16 A three-phase sockets and the 6 x 16 A / 230 V Schuko sockets.
How is the Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit controlled?
In two ways: by weekly automations, which switch the outlets on and off to a weekly rhythm, or live from the Spine service in real time. The board also has local SOCKETS ON / SOCKETS OFF buttons.
What is the supply?
The supply is a 16 A appliance inlet.
What outlets does the Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit have?
Three 16 A three-phase sockets and six 16 A / 230 V Schuko sockets. The Schuko sockets are split across phases 1-1-2-2-3-3.
How much does the Spine 16A LCU lighting control unit weigh?
The weight is 9.3 kilos. The dimensions are 40 x 22 x 52 cm (W x D x H).
What protection does the board have?
A 40 A / 30 mA residual current device and six C16 1P miniature circuit breakers.
What is the enclosure rating?
The enclosure rating is IP44 and the impact resistance IK10. The board meets the requirements of standards EN 61439-1, -2 and -4.
What is the product number (MPN)?
The product number, or MPN, is 505010042.
Does the board work without a Spine subscription?
The outlets can be switched with the local buttons, but remote control and weekly automations require the Spine system.
