You can press a flat connector closed without pliers. However, pliers make installation easier and faster.

Place the lighting cable and the light’s cable in the connector. Then press it evenly closed with the pliers.

Switch on the power and check that the light comes on. A faulty joint is easiest to fix before the line goes up to the ceiling.
