Aurora 64 oil boiler is the peak and backup heat source of the Aurora Block hybrid heating system. It produces water at 90 °C and starts automatically when the frost hardens or the power fails.

Aurora 64 oil boiler is the module that keeps the Aurora Block system running. It produces water at 90 °C with an output of 64 kW, it has a 270-litre fuel tank and 16 hours of battery backup. When the outdoor temperature drops to about –25 °C or the power fails, the module starts by itself.

Who is the Aurora 64 oil boiler for?

The module is intended for sites where heating must not break: construction sites, industry, security-of-supply facilities and temporary accommodation.

It also suits sites where the power supply is unreliable or is interrupted from time to time. The battery backup keeps the boiler running for 16 hours without mains power.

The Aurora 64 oil boiler also works as a standalone unit on sites that need no heat pumps at all.

Backup heat. In a hybrid system the module waits on standby and starts automatically when the heat pumps’ output is not enough.

Peak heat. During the coldest spells the module tops up the heat pumps’ output, so the target temperature is reached even in hard frost.

Frost thawing. Used on its own, the module produces warm water for heating mats or hoses. A flow temperature of 90 °C thaws the ground quickly.

Why a 90 °C flow temperature matters

Heat pumps typically produce water at up to +60 °C. Some sites need it hotter — old radiator networks and frost thawing among them.

The Aurora 64 reaches +90 °C, so it covers the cases a heat pump alone cannot.

A higher flow temperature also speeds up thawing and drying when the schedule is tight.

The module’s own power draw is at most 1000 W, and it has 16 hours of battery backup.

In practice the heating continues right through the night even if the site’s power supply fails. Structures do not have time to cool and no frost damage occurs.

That is usually the decisive difference on a site with fresh concrete or water pipes.

Aurora 64 oil boiler also runs on HVO biodiesel

The module runs on both diesel and HVO biodiesel. HVO is made from waste and residues and burns more cleanly than conventional light fuel oil.

According to Arctic Warm, the Aurora Block system as a whole cuts carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90 % and total costs by up to 30 % compared with fuel-only heating. Most of the saving comes from the boiler running only when the heat pumps are not enough.

Fuel consumption and refuelling interval

The fuel tank holds 270 litres. The running time depends on how large a share of the heat the boiler produces.

In a hybrid system the boiler runs only during the coldest spells and through power cuts, so the refuelling interval is considerably longer than with fuel-only heating.

According to Arctic Warm, fuel accounts for up to 90 % of the cost of conventional heating – which is exactly why cutting running hours delivers the largest saving.
